Alastair was first elected as a Common Councilman (city councillor) of the Ward of Queenhithe in 1999. 17 years later, Alastair continues to represent the best interests of the Ward and its residents. He was appointed Deputy to Alderman Gordon Haines in 2006.  As he lives in the Ward of Queenhithe and has sited his business only five minute’s walk away (near Cannon Street), Alastair brings unique insight from Queenhithe to his role representing the Ward.

A long-term resident of Queen’s Quay, Alastair’s involvement within the Ward is far reaching. He serves on a wide range of City of London Corporation Committees,  including the Finance; Markets; Standards; and Culture, Heritage and Libraries committees.  As such, he bears partial responsibility for the oversight of many of the City of London Corporation’s activities and services.

Alastair is a member of three City Livery Companies, the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths (where he is a member of the Court of Assistants), the Worshipful Company of Broderers and the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers. The Blacksmiths and the Painter-Stainers are based in the Ward of Queenhithe. He is also a Freeman of the Guild of Entrepreneurs.  In addition to this, he is an active member of the Queenhithe Ward Club.

With his extensive knowledge of the City and the Ward of Queenhithe in particular, Alastair has been and continues to be a valued member of the City of London Corporation.
